In fact, upon arrival, I was originally taken back by how urban it was walking from the bus station to my accommodation. But when I walked toward the city center, it was as though the clouds parted and the angels started singing. It was beautiful! The river, the statues, the colorful buildings and churches, and the hilltop castle… amazing. Perhaps the best part, no hoards of tourists like many other European capitals.

So where should you start your 3 day itinerary in Ljubljana? In the middle!

Start at Prešeren Square

The city’s main square is a great starting point, surrounded by beautiful architecture, including the iconic pink Franciscan Church of the Annunciation. The square is named after Slovenia’s national poet, France Prešeren, and often hosts cultural events and performances.
