Location within the City
Located in the heart of Ljubljana, Fluxus Hostel is just a 5-minute walk from some of the top sights in the city. It’s also about a 15 minute walk from the main train and bus stations. In fact, everything within the city is a quick walk. Take a look at its location on the map.
It’s nestled just a block off of the river and right between the Ljubljana Cathedral and the Opera house. This is prime location in Ljubljana – and of course also very safe, even for those solo female travelers.
Common Areas and the Vibe
It is not a party hostel but the rooms and kitchen enable easy interaction with other guests. The kitchen is decently prepared including pots, pans, dishes, silverware, a microwave, stove and refrigerator. No oven though. There is free tea and coffee.
The Rooms Available
Overall, Fluxus Hostel has 2 dorm rooms of 6 beds and 8 beds and one private room with its own bathroom. Each bed has its own light but outlets are limited to near only a few beds. Additionally, there are small lockers in each room, but I would say they only provide limited security.
The biggest downside of Fluxus Hostel is actually that the building is old and therefore the floors are really creaky. That makes it hard to sleep when others are up and moving around in the room.
The Bathroom Situation
There is one bathroom featuring a toilet and a sink that barely runs and one shower room that also features a sink but with real running water. Unfortunately, the shower room can flood if you’re not careful so don’t put anything on the floors! You’ve been warned.
Laundry is Available
Laundry is a total of €4 for washing and drying. Much less than some places!
The Staff
The staff is excellent! They provide great advice about the city, can print things for you, provide bus times, etc. and you are never a burden to them. The staff will definitely go above and beyond for you! However, they are only on site from around 10am – 8pm.
Recent Renovations
This hostel went under new management a few months ago, and they have many renovations in mind but are waiting until after high travel season.
