In fact, winter is my favorite time to go to Culebra as there are less people and the air and water temperatures stay moderate enough to enjoy the beach and swim in the beautiful water. Just be cautious as winter also brings more frequent rain showers – so be prepared.

If you’re interested in water-based activities, such as kayaking, winter is a great time to explore them. Paddle through the mangrove forests that fringe the island’s coast, navigate the winding channels, and discover hidden lagoons. If you’re looking for the most popular time to visit Culebra, it’s definitely summer. This is when the crowds set in, everything on the island opens up, and the beaches, bars, and restaurants will be the most lively – as you can see above.

That being said, for me, the best time to visit Culebra Island is during the off-season periods, away from the peak summer heat and crowds. Since Culebra enjoys a warm climate year-round, you’ll still have amazing weather to enjoy the stunning beaches of Culebra while avoiding the scorching summer temperatures and crowds.

This allows you to fully appreciate the island’s natural beauty, pristine beaches, and marine life without feeling overcrowded or overheated. Not to mention, you’ll have an easier time getting to and from Culebra Island and staying overnight if you so choose.

What it really comes down to when trying to decide when to visit Culebra is that any time of year is great. The most important part is that you do visit Culebra! It’s such a beautiful island and even in peak season, it’s worth fighting for a spot on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world – Flamenco Beach.
